Kids With Guns

Breaking news is that Sebastian Telfair has been fined and suspended for bringing a Smith & Wesson handgun on the team plane. I'm guessing that means he won't be playing tonight. It sounds like it could have actually been an honest mistake, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one believed him. It just goes to show that Louis Vuitton should come up with more than one design.
Update: The official Blazer reaction here.

I personally think it was an honest mistake, but it was also a stupid mistake. The ideal thing for him to have done was to inform security as soon as possible. That move might have actually boosted his "sterling reputation." However, he did save himself a lot of trouble by not carrying the gun around with him wherever he went. If he got caught with the gun on him we would have been screwed, and John Nash would have cried himself to sleep for the next 2 weeks.

I agree, it seems like an accident. The fact that he's not getting charged with a crime makes it seem to me like whatever story he told the feds was legit. I've actually been surprised by how little uproar this flap created. Maybe people are actually starting to realize that pro athletes are people, no matter how much money they make.
